Head to AltPress to hear a new Yellowcard song called "Crash The Gates" and read an interview with Ryan Key.
[Neal Avron] was a big part of why this thing turned out the way it did. At the beginning, he was like, “I think you guys are ready to step out of the box a little more. You never have before.” I think in the end, there were probably more raging rock guitars on it than he would have liked, but he helped us find a good medium. He never just lets you do things, even though we’ve made so many records with him over the years. He doesn’t just press “record” and let it go. He’s deeply invested in what we do, and that’s why we keep going back to him. It feels really good when he tells...
Yellowcard have confirmed the album cover for Lift a Sail on Facebook. Along with that the band's new biography can be found, in full, in the replies. And, last but not least, the radio edit of "One Bedroom" (it's missing over 40 seconds of the song), is up on radio station 91x San Diego's website.
After two of the most eventful years of his life, it’s the kind of emotionally cathartic record Key needed his band to make. In 2012, while on tour in Europe, Key met the woman who would become his wife, Alyona Alekhina, a professional snowboarder from Russia. By the end of the year they were engaged—but just a few months later, while training in California, Alekhina suffered a spinal cord...

We'll be seeing a lot of tour announcements today, and here's a big one to kick the week off -- Yellowcard and Memphis May Fire will go on a co-headlining tour with Emarosa throughout the U.S. in October and November. Full dates are in the replies. Also, the band has announced their new album will be called Lift a Sail and will be released in September -- video announcement also in the replies.
An AP.net reader wrote in after attending the LP and Ben (both formerly of Yellowcard) show tonight. He talked a little to the band and was told that the band would be called This Legend and they will be releasing a proper press-release soon that will also have a more detailed statement about LP's departure from Yellowcard. Apparently the new music sounds "like 2003 Yellowcard, but more pop punk." They also covered "Way Away" -- a clip of which can be heard in the replies.
Yellowcard has signed to Razor & Tie and will release a new album this fall. The band comments, "We are beyond excited for what lies ahead. There are so many amazing opportunities on the horizon for us, and we are stoked to have a new partner in Razor & Tie." They'll be on Warped Tour all summer as well.
Long-time drummer Longineu "LP" Parsons III has parted ways with Yellowcard. Said the band in a joint statement, "Longineu has decided to pursue other musical interests. We wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors." A replacement has not been announced but the band has begun work on their next album.
A new episode of Dan Campbell's Talking With Soup has been posted, and it features Yellowcard's Sean Mackin revealing details about what he did during the band's hiatus years, the perception that Yellowcard struck it rich off Ocean Avenue, and how he dealt with thyroid cancer while touring. Check it out in the replies and go Broncos.
There was a time in our career where Yellowcard was making a lot of money, but it was a very small amount of time - it was about a year and a half, maybe two years. Over 12 years that ends up averaging out. I was relatively smart with my money, I put some away ... when we took a hiatus I sold cars for three and a half years, and on average, I made more...
The 2004 single was reinvented into a dubstep creation that partners soaring synths with tasteful growls that add just enough grit to the mix. Big sounds make this one favorable for a set and if you have a crowd that is the right age, then you know they will go off for something like this! Nostalgia and bass music? What a touching experience.
First of all, being asked to be a part of this amazing tribute is such an honor. Tony and No Use For a Name were huge influences on all of us as musicians and songwriters. When Fat Mike contacted me about it he said he had a song in mind that he thought was right for Yellowcard, "Already Won." Recording the song was amazing. We actually did the drums during soundcheck in Salt Lake City on our fall tour last year. Recorded them right from the stage. Then when we got in the studio to do the rest of the tracks, there was such an intense energy between us all because we wanted to do...
Yellowcard has had to cancel their show in Colorado Springs.
Hey friends. It’s with a ton of regret that we are going to have to cancel the show in Colorado Springs tomorrow night. I have been trying so hard to beat this cold I’ve got but it doesn’t want to give up. If you can make it to the Ft Collins showon Wednesday we’d still love to hang out. Again I am so sorry. Thanks for understanding. -Ryan
Ryan Key (Yellowcard) talks a little about the band's current status and what their plays are for this year in an interview with the OC Weekly.
I've written more than I usually do at this stage...everyone in the band is really spread out geographically right now. Usually, Ryan, Sean and I start writing together early on, but that's kind of hard to do this time. We've talked a lot about it though, and the general consensus is we want it to be really big sounding. We want to open it up big and wide. Songs that we reference are "Be The Young" and "Only One," so more stuff like that maybe...Also, I'm not sure where I'm going to go lyrically with it, but going through this insane personal...
