The grassroots veneer fell away, and it became more transparent: It had always been a way to herd consumers into stores, devised by an industry that keeps clinging to outmoded models of the past rather than learning to innovate and adapt to new technologies.

If everything goes as planned, the album should be out the first or second week of September. Touring would start a couple of weeks before that. That’s the plan. We’ll spend about two months in the studio, and whatever else it takes to get everything done. The release date is tentative — we’ve been bad in the past with meeting deadlines — but we think we’re giving ourselves enough time to get it done. Come fall we’ll have a new album, and we’ll be touring to support everything and do another album cycle.
"Like, hip-hop," Mumford says with a grin. "We really want to rap. We've just got so much to say – saying it through a melody doesn't really work for me. We've been talking with Jay-Z about it, you know. It's gonna be a fresh experience for our band." Does the band rap in the practice room? "Yeah," Mumford says. "We're like, 'Motherfucker!'"

Tool will release a handcrafted, bonus-laden, limited edition package of their original debut EP, Opiate, on Mar. 26 to mark the 21st anniversary of the six-song release. The anniversary edition is limited to 5,000 copies and features art direction by Adam Jones, illustrations by legendary artist Adi Granov and design packaging by Mackie Osborne, who has collaborated with TOOL on many albums including 10,000 Days, Lateralus and Salival as well as posters and merchandise.
The 5,000 copies will be broken down as 5 x 1,000 runs with each set...

According to an interview with Zane Lowe on BBC Radio 1 yesterday, Frank Ocean is fairly deep into work for his follow-up to last year's critically-acclaimed channel ORANGE. "I'm ten, eleven songs into this next thing," Ocean said. He also alluded to collaborations with Pharrell, Danger Mouse, and possibly Tame Impala.
