Tigers Jaw have launched preorders for their new album Charmervia Run For Cover Records. A total of 10,000 vinyl units have been pressed. We're also hearing that we should get another new song from the album today, which is out June 3.
Billboard reports that over 369,000 LPs were sold the week ending April 20, with Record Store Day on the 19th. That's a record high since SoundScan began tracking sales in 1991, topping last year's RSD-week sales of 244,000 and the previous record, a pre-Christmas 295,000 during a week in December 2013.
Ironically enough, the top-selling vinyl release of the week was Childish Gambino's "Because the Internet." Hopefully it came with a download code.
Per Billboard's data, it was also a great week for indie stores: mom-and-pop retailers moved 19.4 percent of physical albums sold during RSD week, another "likely" SoundScan-era record.
Knocked Loose will release their new EP, Pop Culture, on June 3rd -- pre-orders are now up. The band will also heading out on tour with Greyhaven shortly, dates in the replies.
"This record was written with mosh in mind. It's ridiculously heavy, ridiculously angry… ridiculously emotional. And it feels good to release something that I'm one hundred percent satisfied with. Just expect to be kicked in the fucking balls," said Isaac Haile, guitarist for Knocked Loose. Vocalist Bryan Garris adds "It's been a long time coming and I'm extremely excited to show people what we've been working on. I'm very proud of this record and I hope it's the meanest thing in Louisville.”

American Beauty is a collection of songs I cut at home. Upon revisiting them for High Hopes I recognized their potential and Ron Aniello and I worked on them until we’d turned them into the music before you. In the song “American Beauty,” I get to sing in a part of my range I don’t often visit and that along with its ‘guitar wall of sound’ gives it a little ‘exile on E Street’ power. “Mary Mary” is a lovely mystery, a small piece of heartbreak poetry that sneaks up on you with its slippery grove, punctuated string section and spectral lyrics. It came closest to making the High Hopes cut. “Hurry Up Sundown” is a...
Revelation Records will be re-releasing Soul Search's 2013 7” EP Nothing But A Nightmare -- which was originally released on Back To Back Records and soon out of print. This version has been remixed by Taylor Young (Nails, Twitching Tongues), remastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege, and will be presented with brand new artwork. Look for a release later in 2014 along with the band's debut LP on Revelation.
There’s so much music out there; there’s so much stuff that sounds like Haim or CHVRCHES or Vampire Weekend that I’m full. The thing I’m hungry for is not that. I turn on the rock station in L.A. and it sounds like Disney commercial music. And I’m confused by that. The dude from Foster the People was literally a jingle writer. No disrespect, but for me to make that stuff was kind of out of the question.
Mogwai will reissueCome on Die Young on June 16th. The reissue includes over an hour of newly added material (demos, early recordings, unreleased tracks, rarities, the 2001 Travels in Constants Vol. 12 EP, and more).
An Aphex Twin album from 1994, titled Caustic Window, that never saw official release cropped up on Discogs recently, with a seller asking for more than $13,000 for their test press. After negotiations between Rephlex Records and the seller, it appears that a complicated deal to distribute 500 downloads via Kickstarter for about $16 has been established, with the physical copy being sold on eBay after the completion of the campaign. The last album of entirely new music from Aphex Twin was released in 2001.

we were really tempted to announce the end of our hiatus tomorrow so everyone would think it was an April Fool’s joke… but we decided it’s probably more kind to just be honest with everyone. we have started writing new music and hope to release an LP at some point in the next year or so. oh, and we’re playing THE FEST. i think that gets announced tomorrow? seriously, this is not an April Fool’s joke. we’re really doing stuff again. maybe we’ll go on tour soon? who cares? we can do whatever we want now.
